A new Co-op has been launched in Corwen to develop a hydro turbine in the town. The plan is for a 42kW pelton wheel turbine to generate power from the Nant Cawrddu which flows towards the town from the hills to the South.
The application to the EA has been submitted, and the planning application is close to submission. Detailed discussions have been carried out with the EA and local authority and the coop is confident of obtaining these permissions.
The coop has just launched a pioneer share offer to fund the completion of the development work. This pioneer offer aims to raise £25,200. Once the development work is complete, a larger share offer will be launched, anticipated to be for about £290,ooo to cover the full construction costs.
