We’re proud to say that most of the projects we have been involved with are doing very well – lots of positive AGMs this year with plenty to celebrate. Sometimes, though, life can be harder for community energy projects. Neen Sollars Community Hydro has had a really difficult few years after the manufacturer of its equipment went bust, leaving the group with a nonfunctional hydro scheme and no support. They have now set up a new initiative to get the scheme up and running again, which is why Sharenergy’s Etty and Jon were to be found deep in the mud of the river Rea last weekend. Together with members of the coop we managed to clear out the turbine chamber and outflow stream ready for the technical crew to install a new control system. We’re looking forward to seeing the scheme back on track by the end of summer target date.
Getting stuck in
Sometimes community energy technology is just a shovel – as we found when we went to help at Neen Sollars
