Sharenergy have been working with Zero Carbon Liverpool City Region (ZCLCR), funded by the Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) to consider the feasibility of a community renewable energy scheme.
Sharenergy’s work focussed on installing a 1MW turbine at Southport Eco Centre to replace the now defunct smaller one that is already there. A survey was circulated to the local community, which received a largely positive response to renewable energy.
This project has now been shelved, as Sefton Borough Council have announced plans for a surfing attraction at the site of the Eco Centre. Read more on the project website.
